We could build the list of 25 players to confirm, each of whom lists the top 5 countries they'd like to play for. Then via a draw, each player would be assigned a country from their top 5. Then, we could set a deadline of two weeks from the date the participants list is compiled to submit the songs. Any thoughts?
We could do "first come, first serve", not necessariyl assiging countries, although that may be an option as well. Again either way, it may require some extra creativity to find some good songs from less known countries and some players may therefore not be interested. But I think it may lead to some interesting songs that normally we wouldn't have heard.
But isn't it a bit unfair to share out african countries when there are only one or two good African countries (South Africa, Egypt and Morocco) surely the players that got these countries would have an advantage?
@ Owen: the African edition I had in mind would be one where everybody would play with a different African country. So not only South Africa, but also with countries like Libya, Burundi, Madagascar, Gabon etc etc. And maybe not all ISC players would be interested as it may be a bit challenging for some countries, but we could give everyone a bit more time, cap the number of players to -let's say- 25 and with no semi's.
